Multimedia Writing


Journalism of any kind requires you to know how to write, and although multimedia journalism is a new form of journalism, it does not give you a pass to suck at writing. In fact, it requires you to be even better and more precise than those who write for broadcast or print because people can revisit your story and projects with the click of a button.
Multimedia writers are expected to write for a number of media and various story types. Even though print and online stories are often structured the same, writers have to be able to think beyond the traditional long-form story. More so now, writers must be showcase a variety of writing styles to be successful in the multimedia world.
With multimedia writers, they are are often required to cover a single story that will appear on multiple platforms. Multimedia writers also contribute video and audio clips, captions, narrations for animations, or explainers for information graphics. However, regardless of the platform, format, or story structure, good writing is at the core of good journalism.
Writing is a crucial tool in being successful in journalism, and as someone who working in multimedia, it is even more crucial because you are counted on for more input than jut writing.
