Photos and Multimedia

Photographs have been important to the world of journalism, but today with the help of Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, photojournalists can take their photography to the next level. The multimedia movement has transformed photojournalism and photo slideshows with audio and galleries are the two most common types of digital photo stories online. However, some photographers have begun to explore more innovative presentations that represent different variations of these concepts. Some have blurred the lines between photo/audio slideshows, but the benefit of sound slides and photo galleries is they have provided photojournalists with new options for storytelling.
Photo galleries are most useful for presenting many images, and provide a different look at a single subject. Galleries contain captions, and sometimes using audio clips with each image, or both, it just depends on the journalist.
Ultimately, photographs have always been important in journalism, but with the rise of multimedia, photographs are even more important than before.
